There are many ways to make room scents for oil diffusers including using essential oils alone or with water or a carrier oil mixed with alcohol but I find the simplest method is to mix essential oils with a carrier oil only.
This easy to make recipe creates a room scent that is fresh, floral and herbal, soothing, energising and uplifting, diffuses well and is long lasting.
How well this mix diffuses depends on the reeds used. Rattan reeds are reportedly better than bamboo as they have multiple channels that absorb the room scent, carrying it along the reed and releasing its fragrance as it does. When the scent is no longer diffused, it is time to replace the reeds.
If you do not have the ingredients to make this blend, try any one of the essential oil blends from the body oils or bath salts shared here and use grapeseed oil instead of the carrier oil/s in the recipe.

- 6 drops lemon oil essential oil
- 8 drops cedarwood essential oil

- 14 drops lavender essential oil
- 14 drops lemongrass essential oil
- 18 drops rose oil essential oil
- 20 drops ylang ylang essential oil
- 20 drops marjoram essential oil
- 22 drops bergamot essential oil
- 50 ml grapeseed oil
In a bottle suitable for diffusing, mix together the essential oils, pour in the carrier oil and swirl to mix well. Add reeds and use in your chosen room.
